Pup-kin Spice and Everything Nice at Howl-O-Ween Party for Dogs

October 6, 2021

We are digging up some Spooktacular tricks and treats this year for a very Happy Howl-O-Ween Party for Dogs on Tuesday, October 12 at Fred P. Hall Amphitheater! We have so much planned for your fur baby you won’t know where to start!

“The event begins with a search for spooky eggs filled with dog treats, followed by many opportunities for fun photos with our inflatables and a visit with sponsors to gather treats and ends with dogs exiting the event through their very own haunted house…the Howling House of Terrier. It’s like no haunted house you have ever seen before,” explains Lisa Schroeder, Palatine Park District Special Interest Coordinator.

We are also offering something new this year! All dogs who come in costume will be entered into a costume contest. We will take photos of all the pups in their costumes and post them to Facebook to be voted on, with the winner receiving a prize! Dress your best and put your pup to the test.

Not only is this a great, family friendly event to get you in the Halloween spirit and fill your camera roll with lots postable pics, but it’s healthy for your dog too! Research shows that keeping your dog’s mind engaged by exposing them to new experiences can prevent your dog from becoming bored, and as a result, decrease their chances of developing bad habits like chewing on furniture. Not to mention, it’s a great way for your dog to meet new fur-ever friends!

“A unique event like this is a fun way to get to interact with other dogs and dog lovers in the community,” says Schroeder.

If all that hasn’t sold you yet, we might even have some pupachinos.

As always, safety is extremely important for both you and your furry friends. All dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash at tall time and social distancing is required. Registration is required for this event. Dogs MUST be wearing a current rabies tag. Palatine residents must wear the Village of Palatine issued license tag to participate in this event. Non-residents must bring current identification along with rabies tags. This is a Village of Palatine ordinance and is therefore a requirement to participate in this event. Sec 5-40.

Please register by 7:00pm on Monday, October 11. Registration is $8 and includes entry for one dog and one person. Additional family members are more than welcome to attend but must be registered for $2. Please sign your dog up for their designated time slot. Small dogs (under 35lbs) please sign up for the 5:00pm time slot. Large dogs (over 35lbs) please sign up for the 6:00pm time slot. Register online today at palparks.org/HOWL. Our tails are wagging, we can’t wait to see you there!
